Winchester, VA : Stephens City teen killed in crash in Frederick County on Tuesday evening, October 18, 2016

A Stephens City teen was killed in a Tuesday afternoon crash in Frederick County, Virginia State Police Sgt. F.L. “Les” Tyler said late Tuesday evening.

Cassie Brook Williams, 17, of Stephens City, was traveling northbound on state Route 522 a quarter mile south of state Route 681, Chestnut Grove Road, in Frederick County when her 1994 Ford pickup ran off the right side of the roadway, Tyler said.

He said the single-vehicle crash happened at about 2:40 p.m.
“The driver over corrected and lost control,” Tyler said. Her car ran off the road to the right and overturned into a tree, he said.

“Miss Williams died at the scene as the result of injuries sustained in the crash,” Tyler said.
“She was wearing her seatbelt,” he said. “There is no indication of any drugs or alcohol involvement.”
He said the main cause of the crash was “driver inattention and over correction.”

The investigating state trooper, C.T. Maddox, was assisted by the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, Frederick County Fire & Rescue, along with several others, Tyler said, including Reynolds Store Volunteer Fire Department, Round Hill Fire, Gainesboro Fire, and Fire & Rescue from South Berkeley, West Virginia.

Tyler said the investigation has been completed.
