A Camp Lejeune Marine died following a car crash in eastern North Carolina.
Troopers say 22-year-old Corporal Jonathan Heston ran a stop sign in Duplin County Saturday night, crashing into a pickup truck.
According to our affiliate WITN, Heston was transported to Vidant Duplin Hospital then airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville in serious condition.
Troopers said Heston died in the hospital Sunday night.
The driver of the pickup truck and another person inside it are recovering from minor injuries.
The Marine Corps says Heston was a mortarman with 1st Battalion, 8th Marines. He joined the Marine Corps in June 2011.
