Kingsport,TN : Jonesborough woman critically injured in West Stone crash on April, Thursday 5th 2018

A two-vehicle collision Thursday sent two women to a local hospital, where one is critical condition.
The Kingsport Police Department reports that at approximately 5:15 p.m., patrol officers responded to a serious crash in the 100 block of West Stone Drive. Due to the seriousness of the injuries sustained by one of the drivers, the KPD Traffic Unit was called to the scene to investigate.

Police determined that a 2018 Toyota Camry, driven by Michelle A. Miller, 31, Kingsport, was eastbound on the highway. Meanwhile, a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by Rebecca A. Shelton, 56, Jonesborough, was exiting the parking lot of Holston Medical Group, located at 105 W. Stone Drive.

Investigators say that Shelton failed to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic and pulled into the path of the Toyota, which struck the Chevrolet directly in the driver’s side.

Shelton was transported by Sullivan County EMS to a hospital for emergency medical treatment of serious injuries. She was listed in critical condition as of late Thursday.

Miller sustained possible injuries and was also transported by Sullivan County EMS for medical evaluation.

Police say that the incident remains under investigation by the KPD Traffic Unit and that no additional details are available for release at this time.
