Cle Elum, WA : Seattle man dies in bicycle accident off U.S. 97 near Cle Elum Saturday afternoon, September 24, 2016

A 70-year-old Seattle man died Saturday afternoon after being struck by pickup at the intersection of U.S. Highway 97 and State Route 970, the Washington State Patrol said.

Around 3 p.m., Arthur H. Boelter was riding his bicycle north on U.S. Highway 97 and was about to turn left onto SR 970 when he was struck by a blue 2002 Ford F150 driven by Bryce R. Kipp of Twisp, the State Patrol said in a news release. Kipp was driving south on U.S. 97.

Officers determined that Boelter had failed to stop at the intersection, which resulted in the collision. He died at the scene.

Kipp, 42, was not injured.
