Chester County , SC : 22 - year old women was killed after her car was crashed into another vehicle on Sunday morning , January 25th 2015
A Rock Hill woman says her faith is helping her cope with the death of her 22-year-old daughter who died in a car crash Sunday morning.
Ja'Quasha Martin died after the car she was in crashed into another vehicle.
“Nobody supposed to bury their child, their child is supposed to bury their mother,” said Lakisha Howard.
On Sunday around 2:45 a.m. Ja'quasha and her three girlfriends were headed home on US 321, south of Chester. That's when police say the 2001 Ford Ja'quasha was riding in collided with a 2005 Dodge.
Troopers say Martin was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the car. Martin was transported to Chester Regional where she later died from her injuries.
"When I walked in there I was told that my daughter was gone," said Howard.
“I just wish she would've lived her life but I'm assuming since she's not here than her life had been lived to what God intended to,” said Howard. “She was a gift to me from him. It was time for her to go back to him.”
Three other young women in Martin's vehicle were also taken to the hospital. According to highway patrol, one of the women in the vehicle was trapped inside and had to be removed by emergency responders. Her injuries were so severe that she was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Martin's mom says her daughter was energetic and generous. "She was fun loving person she was caring and she put anybody else before herself," said Howard.
Highway patrol said the three men traveling in the Dodge were also taken to the hospital.
The victim's sister says that while she's grieving, she's happy to have shared so many years with Martin.
“May She rest in peace she's in a better place that's all I got to say,” Bre'toria Howard.
Authorities have not said if anyone will be charged in the crash or if alcohol was a factor. The wreck is still under investigation.
