Austin, TX : Passenger dies in vehicle crash on Wednesday, August 17, 2016

A vehicle speeding down Gattis School Road Wednesday afternoon hit a curb and flipped, killing the passenger and leaving the driver with non-life-threatening injuries, Round Rock police said.

Round Rock police spokesperson Angelique Myers said the male passenger, who was in his 20s, died at the scene after the driver hit a curb and fire hydrant. The crash caused the vehicle to land on its side next to a commercial truck.

Myers said people on the scene pushed the vehicle upright and rendered aid to the driver and passenger. The driver was transported to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, she said.

Police shut down all lanes of Gattis School Road from Oxford Boulevard to Greenlawn Boulevard from 1-4 p.m. as they investigated the crash, she said. Names of the passenger and driver have yet to be released.
