Austin, TX : A Decatur High School student was killed in a two-vehicle wreck on Monday, September 4, 2017
A Decatur High School student was killed in a two-vehicle wreck on Farm Road 730 near County Road north of Boyd Monday afternoon.
Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper David Marcoux said Payten Tynsky, 16, was killed in the wreck. Tynsky’s Chevrolet Silverado was northbound on the road at about 1:45 p.m. when she lost control of the vehicle and overcorrected, causing her vehicle to enter a side skid and cross into the path of a southbound Dodge pickup, Marcoux said. The Dodge’s driver swerved into the southbound shoulder to avoid the collision, but struck the Chevrolet as both entered the shoulder. Both pickups came to rest against a fence in the shoulder.
Tynsky was pronounced dead at the scene by Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Jan Morrow. The occupants of the Dodge pickup were taken to Wise Health System via ground ambulance.
Boyd Fire Department, Wise County EMS and the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene.
