A Monroe woman is dead following a Sunday morning wreck on Louisiana 15 south of Monroe.

Around 7 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop F started an investigation into the wreck. Ashley Dixon, age 36, died at the scene.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed the crash occurred as Christopher Johnson, age 35, of Monroe was traveling north on LA-15 in a 2013 Ford Escape.

For unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road, hit a ditch embankment and went airborne. The vehicle then struck a large tree and came to rest in the ditch. Dixon, an unrestrained passenger, was ejected.
