Elkhart Township, IN : Three people injured after a chain reaction accident just outside Goshen on Thursday, September 1, 2016
A semi truck hit broadside by a Chevrolet sedan struck an oncoming dump truck head-on just east of Goshen on Thursday.
Despite significant damage to all three vehicles, nobody was seriously hurt, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department.
A 30-year-old woman was driving the Chevrolet south on C.R. 31 when she ran the stop sign at C.R. 38 in Elkhart Township. Her car hit a 2011 Kenworth semi truck driving west on C.R. 38. The impact pushed the Kenworth into the eastbound lane of C.R. 38, where it hit a 1979 International dump truck head on.
The sheriff's department said all three drivers were transported to IU Health Goshen Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
A 51-year-old man from Dayton, Tenn., driving the Kenworth was complaining of hip and arm injuries while a 66-year-old man from Nappanee driving the dump truck received a cut to his head and arm injuries.
The woman driving the Chevrolet from Alexandria, Va., was suffering from a cut to her head and neck pain. She received a citation for disregarding a stop sign.
