Canastota, NY : State trooper suffers minor injuries in central New York Thruway crash on Monday, June 20, 2016
State police say a trooper has suffered minor injuries after his patrol vehicle crashed on the Thruway in central New York.
Trooper David Howard, public information officer for the Thruway detail, says the car was the only vehicle involved in the crash, which happened around 10 a.m. Monday in Interstate 90's westbound lanes near Exit 34 at Canastota, 20 miles east of Syracuse.
Howard says the trooper was being evaluated by an ambulance crew for minor injuries. He says no other information will be released.
The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports the trooper car ended up wedged under a guard rail. The highway's right lane was closed for a time after the crash, which caused traffic slow-downs into the early afternoon.
