NICEVILLE, FL : Two teens in critical condition after crash on Monday, 19th September 2016
Two teenagers were critically injured Monday night when they were ejected from a car during a crash.
According to a press release from the Niceville Police Department, 18-year-old Courtni Conger was driving a 2011 Ford Mustang south on State Road 85 just north of the Mid-Bay Bridge Connector at the high rate of speed about 8:40 p.m. Three passengers were in the car: Conger's 15-year-old sister Madison, 15-year-old Talben Francis and 17-year-old Jonathan Barnes.
Conger failed to negotiate the curve at high speed and drifted left. She steered right and the car went onto the west shoulder before she veered left again, the release said.
The Mustang rotated while heading south on the grass shoulder before it hit a pine tree. The impact forced the vehicle to rotate again and the two passengers in the backseat were ejected, according to police. The release did not identify the passengers.
A medical helicopter landed on the road and took Madison Conger and Talben to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, where they were listed in critical condition Tuesday afternoon.
Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash. Police still are investigating.
