Four people died in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 24 in Coffee County on Saturday afternoon, a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper said.

The wreck took place just before 12:30 p.m. at mile marker 107 in Manchester, according to the THP.

Lt. John Harmon said a 1986 Toyota Celica with a Tennessee license plate was traveling east on I-24 at a high rate of speed when the driver attempted to change lanes and lost control.

The driver was unable to regain control of the car and it left the roadway to the right side of the interstate and struck a tree.

All four people in the car were killed on impact, Harmon said.
