A 3-year-old boy is recovering in the hospital after a violent wreck that killed two other people in Baytown Wednesday night.
The toddler was the only survivor of the crash in the 3800 block of North Main Street and Hartman Drive.
Investigators said at around 10 p.m., a man in a Ford pickup was heading north on North Main Street. Baytown police say the driver lost control and swerved into oncoming traffic.
According to police, the Ford then crashed head-on into a Toyota pickup. Both drivers died in the wreck.
The driver of the Ford has been identified as Russell Hargrove, of Highlands. Baytown police say Hargrove, 33, was not wearing a safety belt and was ejected from his truck onto the roadway. He died at the scene.
The Tacoma was driven by 59-year-old Michael Holloway. Police say Holloway, of Baytown, was wearing his safety belt, but did not survive the crash.
A 3-year-old boy, who was secured in a car seat in Holloway's truck, suffered minor injuries. Emergency responders brought the child to Memorial Hermann Hospital in a LifeFlight helicopter.
Police have not said what Holloway's relationship is to the child.
Officers tell Local 2 they found several beer cans inside Hargrove's truck and are awaiting autopsy results to determine whether he had been drinking.
