A driver was killed after colliding with a truck Alexander County Tuesday afternoon.
The wreck happened around 3:40 p.m. on US 64 near Smith Farm Road.
Troopers say 79-year-old David Paul Chapman was driving a Chevrolet pickup on Smith Farm Road when he failed to yield and was hit by a 2007 Peterbilt bobtail tractor.
Chapman died at the scene.
Troopers say impairment and cellphone use is not suspected. Excessive speed was also not a factor, troopers say.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
No charges are expected.
