Las Vegas, NV : Scooter driver killed in multi-vehicle crash on Boulder Highway Thursday morning, November 27, 2014

A five-vehicle crash involving a scooter at the intersection of Fremont Street and East Sahara Avenue left a woman dead and three people hospitalized this morning, Metro Police said. An investigation indicates a 2000 Honda Civic south on Fremont Street about 6:45 a.m. ran a red light at the Sahara intersection and was hit by a 2003 Toyota Camry going west on Sahara, police said. The front of the Civic then hit the rear of a 1996 Ford Explorer on Sahara, in the lane next to the Camry, police said. The Explorer spun and collided with a 2013 TaoTao VIP motorized scooter, which was stopped at the intersection on eastbound Sahara, and then a 2000 Volkswage Jetta, police said. The woman driving the scooter was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said. A passenger on the scooter, a 39-year-old woman, was in serious condition, police said. A 32-year-old woman driving the Honda Civic suffered minor injuries, as did a 59-year-old man and a woman in the Explorer, police said. All three were taken to Sunrise. The Camry driver, a 44-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries, and the Jetta driver was not injured, police said.
