BURRELL TOWNSHIP, PA : One person died in a fiery accident involving two tractor-trailers on August, Tuesday 1st 2017

One person died in a fiery accident involving two tractor-trailers that kept part of Route 22 closed in Indiana County on Tuesday morning.

State police said a flatbed tractor-trailer was rear-ended by a tandem tractor-trailer, which then burst into flames. The crash happened in the area of Penn View Mountain.


The driver of the truck that caught fire died. The coroner identified him as Perry W. Bonasso, 57, of Coraopolis.

"Preliminary autopsy results indicated Mr. Bonasso may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash," Coroner Jerry Overman Jr. said.

Police said the other driver was not injured.

Route 22 West was closed near Palmerton Road for several hours while troopers investigated at the scene.
