GALESBURG, IL : Man injured in crash off of U.S. 34 on Tuesday, 20th September 2016
A Moline man was taken to a Peoria hospital with injuries from a single car accident late Tuesday morning.
William Duffy was the occupant of that vehicle, which went off the westbound lane of U.S. 34 and ended up in a ditch at the Seminary Street exit.
Galesburg Police said the four-door sedan left the road at about 10:50 a.m. Tuesday and flipped over several times after it struck a cement culvert.
It then settled near a ditch in the green space between the exit ramp and 34.
Duffy was initially taken to nearby OSF St. Mary Medical Center from the crash, but was then transported by a helicopter to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Galesburg Police officers and detectives responded to the crash Tuesday morning. There was about a 10-foot radius of car debris and personal belongings from the vehicle near it as it sat in a ditch.
The nature of Duffy's injuries were not known Tuesday afternoon. Galesburg Police said Duffy was coming into town to visit a relative at Rosewood Care Center, 1250 W. Carl Sandburg Drive.
