Two taken to hospitals after crash near Jefferson

Two people were taken to hospitals after their vehicles crashed Friday near Jefferson, Maryland State Police said.

Units from the Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services used the Jaws of Life to remove the drivers, both females, Cpl. Adam Matthai said.

The crash occurred shortly before 6 p.m. at Point of Rocks and West Boss Arnold roads, police said.

Matthai said the driver of a Mazda 6 was attempting to turn left onto West Boss Arnold Road when she hit a Kia Soul driving east on Point of Rocks Road. The cause of the crash was under investigation.

One driver was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital. The other was taken to Meritus Hospital Center near Hagerstown.
