Manatee County, FL : Two people injured in wreck on I-275 north of Holly Road in Manatee County on Saturday, August 6, 2016
Two people were hospitalized early Saturday with serious injuries after a vehicle that had stopped on Interstate 275 because of a flat tire was struck by an approaching vehicle, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
The crash occurred at about 5 a.m. Saturday on I-275 north of Holly Road in Manatee County. A 2010 Nissan Versa driven by Taylor Stephenson, 24, of Punta Gorda, was stopped partially within the left southbound lane of I-275. Stephenson was attempting to change the flat left front tire, according to the report.
A 2015 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Fielding Brewbaker, 29, of Largo, was heading south in the left lane when it struck the rear of the Nissan Versa, pushing it south and into Stephenson. According to the report, Stephenson was thrown into the median while Brewbaker's truck continued south, rotating counter-clockwise and overturning several times.
Both men were taken to Bayfront Health in St. Petersburg. Stephenson was cited for having a disabled vehicle obstructing traffic.
