Delray Beach, FL : Delray Beach man, three others killed in wrong-way crash in Broward Tuesday night September 8 2015
A Delray Beach man was driving on the wrong side of northbound U.S. 27 Tuesday night, resulting in a head-on crash that killed the man and three others, Florida Highway Patrol reports.
Nathan Lee Wine, 27, was driving southbound on the northbound U.S. 27 lanes just north of Interstate 75 at about 9:26 p.m. Tuesday, FHP reports. He had no passengers in the car.
His 2009 Volvo collided head-on with a 2001 Toyota Sequoia. The Volvo spun off the road into the median, while the SUV overturned, landing on the east shoulder, according to the crash report.
Three of the four passengers in the Toyota were killed: driver Hermis Ruiz, 67, Daisy C. Zayas, 62, and Ines Zayas Pena, 63.
The fourth passenger, 69-year-old Minerio Ruiz Torres, was transported to Broward Health North and remains in serious condition, FHP reports. The northbound lanes of U.S. 27 were closed until about 3 a.m.
FHP is still investigating whether drug or alcohol impairment was a factor in the crash.
