Woman charged in deadly east Charlotte crash

A woman has been charged in a deadly crash that happened in east Charlotte Thursday night.
Overnight, police charged Keren Velasquez with causing the wreck that killed one of the passengers in her car.
Police said Velasquez lost control of her SUV when she tried to change lanes on Albemarle Road near Mallard Drive around 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Officers said Karina Velasquez was thrown from the vehicle and died.
Two children who were passengers in the vehicle have minor injuries and police said one of them was not in his car seat properly.
Velasquez faces several charges, including misdemeanor death by vehicle and not having a license.
