Fort Collins, CO Two pedestrians injured in a hit-and-run crash at Mathews Street On Wednesday, July 13th, 2016

Fort Collins police identified the driver suspected in a hit-and-run that injured two pedestrians late Wednesday while they walked along Drake Road in central Fort Collins.

Police interviewed the driver Stefanie Schafer, 24, and a male passenger believed to be involved in the incident. Police were led to the two after police received information regarding the suspect vehicle.

The hit-and-run happened while a group of people were walking eastbound on the sidewalk along Drake Road when they were struck by a westbound vehicle at Mathews Street at 9:28 p.m. The vehicle then fled the scene of

the crash.

A male and a female victim were transported to Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland with non-life threatening serious injuries. A third pedestrian sustained minor injuries and was cleared at the scene.

The crash is not believed to have been intentional, Fort Collins police spokeswoman Kate Kimble said, and alcohol is being investigated as a contributing factor.

Drake Road was closed in both directions late Wednesday while investigators processed the scene. The crash remains under investigation.

Neither the names of the victims nor details about where exactly they were walking at the time of the crash have yet been released.
