Gallatin County Sheriff Brian Gootkin is recovering after being injured in a motorcycle crash over the weekend.
According to the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office, Gootkin is recovering at Benefis Hospital in Great Falls after he struck a deer while riding a motorcycle near White Sulphur Springs on Saturday.
Gootkin was flown to Great Falls with non-life threatening injuries. He was wearing a helmet and other protective gear at the time of the crash.
“If it wasn’t for the helmet I would not be here today,” Gootkin said in a press release.
Gootkin is expected to make a full recovery.
“I look forward to getting back to the work of serving the people of Gallatin County,” Gootkin said.
