Coral Springs, FL : Motorcyclist killed in Coral Springs crash on Monday, 26th November 2018

A motorcycle driver steered his bike through a red light and was struck by a car in a fatal collision, Coral Springs police said Monday.

Demetrius Jethro Damas, 29, of Sunrise, was riding a Honda sport motorcycle Wednesday south along Coral Ridge Drive.

The investigation so far has found that at about 11:13 p.m., the Honda failed to stop at a red light at Northwest 56th Drive. A Nissan sedan traveling west through the intersection collided with the motorcycle, Officer Francis Capre said in a news release.

The intersection is just south of the Sawgrass Expressway.

Witnesses told police that Damas never regained consciousness after the crash. The driver of the Nissan, David Paul Pettis, 25, of Coral Springs, tried to help Damas at the crash scene, Capre said.
