CHAMPAIGN, IL : A Champaign woman was injured in a two-vehicle collision on Friday, January, 12th 2018
A Champaign woman was injured in a two-vehicle collision at a busy intersection Friday afternoon in west Champaign.
Champaign police Sgt. Tom Frost said at 1:17 p.m., Katrina Lindsey, 24, of Champaign was driving her Hyundai Elantra south on Prospect Avenue preparing to turn left on John Street when she collided with a northbound Mitsubishi Outlander.
Frost said preliminary information was that Lindsey turned in front of Rebecca Roberts, 30, of Champaign, and the vehicles collided. The air bags on each deployed.
Lindsey was taken to a hospital by ambulance. Frost said Roberts declined to be taken. Lindsey was expected to be ticketed for failure to yield while turning left.
Two minutes after that collision, a Champaign officer en route to help got into a minor collision with a truck at the intersection of Kirby and Prospect avenues.
Frost said he did not have details of that collision but said both male drivers were able to walk away from their vehicles without serious injury.
