Reading, PA : Authorities say Wernersville man dies after crash in Shoemakersville on Monday, March 6th 2017
A Wernersville man has died of injuries he suffered in a vehicle accident Saturday in Shoemakersville, the Berks County coroner's office said Monday.
Gordon R. Anke, 83, was pronounced dead at Reading Hospital at 9:15 a.m. Sunday by a doctor at the hospital, officials said.
The death is still under investigation.According to officials at the coroner's office:
The accident occurred about 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of East Noble Avenue and Route 61, which is also the Pottsville Pike.
Anke was stopped at a traffic light on East Noble and attempted to make a left-hand turn into the northbound lane of Route 61.
He pulled in front of a pickup truck that was traveling straight from Route 662, which is also Moselem Springs Road, onto East Noble.
The pickup hit the left front of Anke's car.
The driver of the pickup was not identified.
Anke was taken to Reading Hospital. He was conscious and talking with emergency personnel at the scene and in the ambulance.
Both Anke and the driver of the pickup truck were wearing seat belts.
