An on-duty Charlotte-Mecklenburg police detective was ejected from his vehicle Tuesday night in a wreck on Interstate 485 eastbound near Nations Ford Road, police said.
The detective’s unmarked SUV rolled over at 7:12 p.m. and he was thrown into the middle of the road, police said.
He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The detective was in stable condition late Tuesday night, conscious and talking with family at the hospital, police said.
Another wreck happened because of the first wreck. One person was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and no other injuries were reported, police said.
