Horn Lake, MS : Motorcyclist killed in collision with DeSoto Co. school bus on Tuesday morning, January 6, 2015

A motorcyclist is dead after crashing with a DeSoto County school bus on Tuesday morning.
The bus was loaded with children on their way to Horn Lake Elementary School. None of the children were injured, nor was the bus driver.

Mason Kelly, 21, was driving the motorcycle when it crashed into the school bus, according to the DeSoto County coroner.

"It just looked awful," said Deana Fischer, who works nearby. "There was just wreckage everywhere. Things were scattered about, helmet, boots."

The wreck happened just before 7 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Goodman and Camelot roads.

Investigators say they think speed was a factor in the crash, but they are still putting together the evidence.

Regardless of who was at fault or how the accident happened, Fischer says she will never forget what she saw.

"Immediately, I was like prayers out to the family, because it didn't look good at all."
