CAJON PASS, CA : A motorcyclist was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Thursday, July 20, 2017
A motorcyclist was killed in a single-vehicle crash on northbound Interstate 15, just north of Highway 138, Thursday morning, authorities said.
California Highway Patrol Officer Brian Alvarez told the Daily Press that a “black male adult” was riding a 1996 Yamaha motorcycle when, for reasons unknown, he lost control and crashed at approximately 6:44 a.m. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
“It does not appear that he was involved in a collision with another vehicle,” Alvarez said. “We have no witnesses at this point and we’re unsure why he went down.”
The motorcyclist was ejected from the motorcycle due to the impact, coming to rest in the No. 4 northbound lane of I-15, while the motorcycle caught fire after the collision, the CHP said in a statement. It became fully engulfed in flames within minutes.
