Portsmouth, N.H : North Hampton woman seriously injured in a single-car accident near 72 Drinkwater Road in Exeter Wednesday morning, July 27, 2016

A North Hampton woman was seriously hurt in a single-car accident Wednesday morning, police said.

According to Capt. Stephan Poulin, at 9:46 a.m. July 27, police were dispatched near 72 Drinkwater Road in Exeter where they found a rollover accident.

Elisabeth Hodge, 52, of North Hampton, was travelling outbound when she left the roadway and struck a tree, Poulin said. The impact caused the vehicle to roll and partially eject her, police said. There were no other passengers in the vehicle.

According to police, Hodge was first brought to Exeter Hospital, but was then transported to Massachusetts General Hospital, where she is being treated for serious injuries.

Drinkwater Road was closed by police for approximately 30 minutes after the incident.

Poulin said the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
