Along Rockville Pike in Bethesda, pieces of a shattered fence are all that's left of the horrific crash last night that claimed the life of Silver Spring resident, Nkonou Ayaovi Edorh, 49.

Accident investigators are still trying to piece together the exact cause of the crash that killed Edorh and injured several others when the Edorh's pickup truck collided with a Metrobus on Rockville Pike at Alta Vista Road. The crash happened just after 4:15 p.m. and closed the busy road for hours. The bus driver, Lennitta L Bryant, 41, suffered serious injuries. A preliminary investigation revealed that a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was traveling south on Rockville Pike when it collided with a northbound Metrobus, bound for Lakeforest Mall. The bus then left the roadway and hit a tree, smashing the front end."The driver of the truck jumped the median, hit the bus, and the bus shot across to the embankment," Shalom Meshulam, a witness to the accident, said.

The bus driver, a 13-year veteran, was trapped in the bus in the immediate aftermath of the crash. She was taken with serious injuries to an area hospital. Several passengers were injured and taken to area hospitals as well."She was pinned and that's what took most of the time getting her out," Meshulam said.

One person was airlifted to Baltimore Shock Trauma, three people were taken to Holy Cross Hospital, one person was taken to Suburban and two people were taken with minor injuries to Sibley Hospital.

Three people refused treatment on the scene. The accident happened a few dozen feet from Samir Ahmed's front yard. He said he tried to rescue the driver of the pickup truck.
"So I go around from the other side and one man tells me...don't touch him, he's gone. He's gone," Ahmed said.
