NORTON, MA : Taunton man arrested for OUI in head-on crash on Taunton Avenue (Route 140) on Thursday, 20th February, 2020

An alleged drunken driver pleaded innocent Thursday to charges stemming from a head-on crash on Taunton Avenue (Route 140).

Bail for Daniel Carter, 23, of Taunton, was set at $2,500 cash following his arraignment in Attleboro District Court.

He was arrested after the car he was driving south on Taunton Avenue collided with a car in the northbound lane about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, in the area of Meadowbrook Lane, according to police.

A 33-year-old man in the other vehicle complained of back pain and was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital for treatment.The crash is under investigation by Patrolman Jarrad Morse.

In addition to drunken driving, Carter was charged with driving to endanger and failing to drive within marked lanes.

If he posts bail, he must not drive and must submit to alcohol testing using a portable machine.

He was also charged on an unrelated warrant related to an alleged domestic assault involving an ex-girlfriend in Mansfield in December, according to court records. He pleaded innocent and is due back in court next month.
