Woodford County, KY :Coroner identifies 11-year-old killed in hit-and-run in Woodford County on Sunday, July 12th 2015
An 11-year-old boy was killed and three others were injured after a hit-and-run crash in Woodford County early Sunday morning.Around 3:50 Sunday morning, Versailles Police said four people were in a car turning left from Midway Road onto Versailles Road. They said 20-year-old William Mefford of Frankfort was heading west along Versailles Road in a pickup truck. They said Mefford ran the red light and hit the car. 11-year-old Ryan Moore of Georgetown was killed. The three other people in the car were taken to the University of Kentucky Hospital to be treated for their injuries.Police said Mefford ran from the scene and walked to the Waffle House in Frankfort. They said he called his grandmother to come pick him up because he said he was scared and didn't know what to do. They said his grandparents took him to the police station around 9:00 Sunday morning to talk. That's where police arrested him.Mefford is charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Causing Death, 3 counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st and Disregarding a Traffic Control Device.The crash remains under investigation.Friends of Ryan Moore's family set up an account for donations at Whitaker Bank under "Ryan Moore Memorial Fund."
