Two students injured after Hickman County school bus crash

Two students were injured when their school bus went airborne and crashed Monday afternoon in Hickman County.

The bus was on its way from Hickman County Middle School with eight students on board about 4 p.m. when the driver apparently lost control along Primm Springs Road near Williamsport.

Sheriff Randal Ward said the bus struck a concrete culvert and came to a rest when it hit a patch of small trees.

One student was transported by medical helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and another was taken to Vanderbilt by ground ambulance.

Ward said their injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the crash.
