Phoenix, AZ : Two people hurt in a freeway hit-and-run on Wednesday morning July 30th 2014
A bad crash closed the I-17 near 7th street on Wednesday morning. DPS says one of the drivers tried to take off.
A man and a woman in their 30's driving in a Camry pulled their car over on the shoulder of I-17.
The man got out to check under the hood and was back in the driver's seat before being rear-ended by a truck.
DPS says a 25-year-old driver got of his car, talked to them and then fled on foot.
The hit-and-run driver was later caught when DPS officers saw him standing at a nearby intersection. Authorities are investigating impairment as a factor.
The man in the Camry has minor injuries, but the woman is in serious condition in a hospital.
I-17 northbound is closed at the split. Use I-10 westbound to I-17 at the stack.
