Hinds County, MS : 68-year-old William Alexander died in crash on Highway 27, north of the Natchez Trace on Saturday afternoon, June 11, 2016
68-year-old William Alexander of Sheridan Arkansas has died following a Saturday afternoon accident on Highway 27.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol was called to the scene of a two vehicle accident on Highway 27, north of the Natchez Trace in Hinds County.
Alexander's wife and daughter were also in the car.
Alexander's wife is in critical, but stable condition at UMMC.
His daughter is also at UMMC in stable condition.
According to MHP Corporal Eric Henry, an 18-wheeler was traveling south on Highway 27, when a car turned out in front of the 18-wheeler's lane of travel.
The 18-wheeler tried to avoid hitting the vehicle and swerved into the northbound lane hitting a Chevrolet Suburban head on that was traveling north on MS 27.
The suburban was carrying a family of three from Arkansas.
Alexander, the driver of the suburban was killed on the scene.
The other two passengers of the suburban were transported to UMMC with life threatening injuries.
One was taken by air care, and the other was taken by ambulance.
The driver of the 18 wheeler was transported to UMMC with injuries.
