Clearwater, FL : Car crashes into Clearwater pool on Tuesday, July 1, 2014

Clearwater Police are questioning the driver of a car they say plowed into a mailbox, a parked car, a pool cage, and finally plunged the car halfway into a swimming pool.

Someone called officers to the 1500 block of South Prescott Avenue around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The driver, 24-year-old Kyle Streck, and a passenger of the vehicle ran from the scene, investigators say. Officers caught up with Streck a few blocks from the crash site.

The pool enclosure sustained $10,000 in damage, the car sustained $1,000 in damage, and the mailbox was a total loss.

Streck was cited for careless driving, and charged with leaving the scene of a crash with property damage. Other charges may be forthcoming.
