Raleigh,NC : One person killed and others injured in tour bus involved in fatal crash in Interstate 95 on Sunday August 2nd 2015

The driver of a New York City tour bus involved in a fatal crash on Interstate 95 is facing charges stemming from the wreck.

The N.C. Highway Patrol said Monday that 23-year-old Eric Jimmerson is charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and careless and reckless driving. The patrol said Jimmerson was hospitalized in critical condition on Sunday, but a spokeswoman for WakeMed said Monday he was not listed as a patient.

Sgt. Michael Baker said the bus crossed the median around 4:20 a.m. Sunday. A northbound car swerved off I-95 to avoid the bus and hit a tree. The accident occurred near Benson, about 35 miles south of Raleigh.

The crash killed the motorist's wife, 54-year-old Enid Ortiz of Palm Bay, Florida. Their 12- and 13-year-old grandchildren required treatment.
