Iberville Parish, LA : 2 killed in head-on crash in Iberville Parish on Tuesday, 23rd March 2021
Two Plaquemine men, including a long-time Iberville Parish employee, were killed in a Tuesday morning crash when their pickup trucks collided head-on on a highway near Grosse Tete, authorities said.
The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. after one of the drivers' pickups crossed the center line on La. 77 near the Grosse Tete bridge, according to Louisiana State Police.
Patrick Dwyer, 40, had been driving south when his truck went into the opposite lane and collided with a Ford F-150 driven by 77-year-old Marvin Stampley.
Stampley had worked for the parish since 2009 with the building inspectors office, but his work also saw him take on several different roles.
He was on his way to Rosedale Monday morning to bring donuts and help set up for an outreach event at the community center.
Both men were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash but suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
