OGDEN, UT : Motorcyclist in critical condition after crash at busy Ogden intersection on Saturday, 29th October 2016

A motorcycle and car collision near 12th Street and Washington Boulevard sent one man to the hospital and closed one lane to traffic Saturday, Oct. 29.

At around 2 p.m., a 49-year-old male driving a motorcycle attempted to avoid backed-up traffic headed west and hit a black car turning into the parking lot for Jiffy Lube and Vasa Fitness. The collision pushed the black car into a white car waiting to turn onto 12th Street, Ogden Police Lt. Kevin Cottrell said.

The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital in critical condition and was not wearing a helmet, Cottrell said. No other injuries were reported.

The center lane of westbound 12th Street is expected to be closed near the intersection until about 5:15 p.m., according to a tweet from the Utah Department of Transportation.
