Cullman, AL : Cullman man injured in motorcycle wreck on Tuesday, January 3rd 2017

A Cullman man was seriously injured Tuesday evening in a traffic collision in downtown Cullman.

Details of the accident were sparse late Tuesday as the Cullman Police Department continued to investigate the accident.

Police said Donny Robertson of Cullman was severely injured while riding a motorcycle at the intersection of U.S. Highway 31 and U.S. Highway 278 in downtown Cullman.

The accident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. Robertson sustained a severe laceration to his leg, said police. A delivery driver in traffic at the scene helped improvise a tourniquet for Robertson until emergency responders arrived.

Robertson was airlifted to an area hospital, police said.
