A 93-year-old is dead after a crash in a northeast Memphis neighborhood.

Police responded to 4677 Hillmont Avenue around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. A car crashed into a guardrail at a dead end.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim struck a curb and then drove to the end of the road. Police say she struck the guardrail, becoming wedged under it.

Witnesses told police that the victim then began revving the motor and spinning the tires until the vehicle caught fire.

The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene.
