MOUNT DORA, GA : Tavares motocyclist killed in crash on Tuesday, 17th March, 2020

A Tavares motorcyclist died after a crash Tuesday after another driver turned in front of him at an intersection southeast of Mount Dora.

Steven Winters, 38, was reportedly traveling southbound of U.S. Highway 441 approaching the intersection of Old Highway 441.

A driver from Clermont, Daniel Meeks, 55, was traveling northbound on 441 in a van.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol’s crash report, Meeks sought to make a left turn from U.S. 441 to Old Highway 441, and crossed into Winters’ path.

Winters collided with the right side of Meeks’ van and was critically injured.

Meeks sustained no injuries.

Winters was taken to Orlando Health, where he later died.

The FHP is still investigating the crash and said charges are pending against Meeks.
