Aromas ,CA :29 -Years old Felipe Gonzalez Killed and three injured after Crash on Saturday afternoon ,April 18 2015

A man died Saturday afternoon and three were injured in Aromas after a two-vehicle collision on San Juan Road just west of Summerland Road, California Highway Patrol officials said Monday.

Officials identified the victim as Felipe Gonzalez, 29, of Salinas.

Gonzalez was traveling on San Juan Road about 1:30 p.m. at an unknown speed. He apparently failed to see a vehicle, with three occupants, stopped in front of him getting ready to make a left turn into a private driveway. Gonzalez did not stop, and slammed into the rear bumper of the stopped car.

The collision killed Gonzalez. He was airlifted to Natividad Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

All three occupants in the other vehicle, two women and a man, were transported via ambulance to the same hospital. CHP officials say the two women, ages 29 and 21, sustained moderate injuries, and a 24-year-old man was left with major injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, but drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor. No arrests were made.

It took more than an hour to extricate the injured parties from the vehicles, and clear the roadway, CHP said.
