VAN WERT, OH : Three injured in crash involving stolen vehicle on Wednesday, 31st August, 2016
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one vehicle injury crash involving a stolen car that occurred at 12:13 a.m. Tuesday on US 30 at US 224.
A trooper with the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol observed a vehicle traveling eastbound on US 30 at a high rate of speed. After checking the vehicle’s speed at 110 mph, the trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to stop and after a brief pursuit crashed while attempting to exit from US 30 at US 224 west.
After crashing, the three suspects in the vehicle attempted to flee the scene. All three were quickly apprehended after the successful deployment of a law enforcement K-9.
The three suspects were identified as: Christopher T. Ellis Jr., age 20, Rodrick J. Powers, age 17, and Datarrion D. Hill, age 17. All three suspects are from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
All three suspects sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash and were transported by EMS to the Van Wert County Hospital for treatment. They were treated and released to family pending charges.
The vehicle involved, a 2006 Chevrolet Impala, had been reported stolen from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Van Wert Police Department, Convoy Fire & EMS, Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office and Knippen’s Towing.
