Sarasota County, FL : Pedestrian seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash on DeSoto Road Sunday night, February 21, 2016

A pedestrian was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash on DeSoto Road Sunday night.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol:

A red or maroon vehicle was driving westbound on DeSoto Road west of DeSoto Parkway at about 10 p.m.

Scott T. Morrison, 55, of Sarasota was walking westbound on DeSoto Road ahead of the car. As the vehicle approached, it failed to keep a safe distance from the pedestrian, and the right outside mirror struck Morrison.

Morrison was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
