Palm Springs, CA : Motorcyclist died after a collision in Palm Springs on Saturday night, June 25, 2016
A motorcyclist who rear-ended a vehicle on Saturday night and was rushed to a hospital in critical condition has died, according to Palm Springs police.
The motorcyclist's identity is being withheld while the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
As of Sunday afternoon, police believe that a lone rider on a 2001 white Suzuki was headed northbound on Sunrise Way in the right lane when the bike struck the back of a 2003 black Lincoln Town Car that had been turning into an apartment complex. Emergency personnel were dispatched at 11:12 p.m. and the street was closed between Paseo El Mirador and Tachevah Drive until about 6:15 a.m.
It's unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
The driver of the Lincoln Town Car was interviewed and released at the scene, police said in a press release.
