Authorities have identified a motorcyclist who was killed after hitting a deer on SC-61 in Dorchester County Tuesday morning.
Officials with the Dorchester County Coroner's Office say 31-year-old Cody Alan Davis of Summerville was pronounced dead at the scene.
"He was not wearing a helmet," DCCO officials said in a statement."The South Carolina Highway Patrol and Dorchester County Coroner’s Office are investigating."
The driver died on-scene after their 2003 Harley Davidson hit the deer while driving southbound near O'Sullivan Lane, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Matt Southern.
Motorists were advised to seek an alternate route during their commute Tuesday morning.
A southbound detour was in place from SC-61 to SC-165 to County Line Road to US-17 before all lanes of SC-61 re-opened around 8 a.m.
