Rock Hill, S.C : Customer injured when car crashes into Rock Hill store on May 18, 2014
Rock Hill, South Carolina
WBTV is learning more about the woman police say drove a stolen car through a Rock Hill convenience store, injuring one man in the process before running away.
"It could have taken my life," said the victim James Jones.
Shaken but not broken, 48-year-old James Jones was on crutches Monday when he was struck by a front door and debris after Rock Hill police say 23-year-old Kieara Brice drove a stolen Ford Taurus through the wall of the Discount Beverage store on Cherry Road Sunday afternoon.
"When she hit the glass it tore the whole frame down. The whole frame from the door and everything, hit me and threw me back," said Jones
Officials say Brice and another man ran from the scene shortly after the crash, but she turned herself in last night.
Jones, who suffered a sprained leg and has soreness in his neck and back, says he's happy to be alive.
"Praise God, you know what I'm saying? Some people get lucky and some don't," said Jones.
Prison records show Brice was already wanted in North Carolina for probation violation.
She was arrested in 2009 for robbery with a dangerous weapon and convicted in 2010.
Brice was sentenced to probation, but according to prison records, she stopped reporting to her parole officer.
WBTV called Mecklenburg Parole officials to see how long Brice had been missing, but our calls weren't returned in time for this story.
As for Jones, he says he has no hard feelings towards Brice.
"Everybody makes mistakes, but you can correct those mistakes," he said.
There are surveillance cameras here that caught Sunday's incident, but the owner says he's unable to pull that video.
That owner also told WBTV this isn't the first time he's had something gone down at his store, nearly two years ago he was shot during an armed robbery.
Brice is facing leaving the scene of an accident and breach of trust charges.
Her bond was set at $8,130 dollars, Monday morning.
