Randolph, NJ : Two New Jersey teens killed in one-car accident on Saturday afternoon, July 26, 2014
Family and school officials say the two victims of a fatal car crash in Randolph were high school football players and "friends from childhood."
Jackie Timmerman says her son, Jack, and his friend Calvin Verduga, were riding in the back seat of a classmate's car Saturday afternoon when it careened off the road, killing them both. She says the two were "like best buddies" and childhood friends.
Two others in the car were hurt.
Randolph Superintendent of Schools David Browne issued a statement Sunday confirming the students had been killed and offering grief counseling.
The teens were spending their summer preparing for the upcoming football season
Police say the car was speeding down a road when the driver lost control and hit a tree.
